Radio Apac celebrates 25 years of community impact

Apac, Uganda – 14th December 2024 – Radio Apac 92.9FM marked its silver jubilee with a grand celebration themed “Rooted in Culture, Inspired by Tomorrow”. Established in 1999, the station has been a vital platform for communication, culture, and community development in Northern Uganda.

The event, held at Apac Bomah Grounds, was filled with vibrant activities that brought the local community together. The day featured showcases of innovative skills by local innovators, thrilling bicycle races, captivating Lango cultural dances, and traditional games such as Coro also known as Omweso in Luganda. These activities highlighted the celebration’s theme, which emphasised preserving cultural heritage while embracing technological advancements.

Ms. Mery Akello Ojudu, the Local Council 1 Chairperson of Biashara cell, Akere division, Apac municipality, applauded Radio Apac’s significant contributions over the years. She highlighted the station’s role in promoting culture and fostering a sense of unity within the community. “Radio Apac has been a platform where our culture is preserved and celebrated, and this is an achievement worth acknowledging,” she remarked.

Kenneth Ongom, the Station Manager, reaffirmed Radio Apac’s commitment to serving the needs of the community. “At Radio Apac, we are determined to do whatever it takes to meet the needs of our community, especially given the opportunities presented by technological advancements,” he stated, pledging to keep the station relevant in a rapidly changing world.

Ambrose Agec Opio, the Chief Guest at the event, expressed his gratitude to the directors and team behind Radio Apac. He praised their vision and dedication to providing essential radio services to the community. “Radio Apac has played a key role in delivering information, entertainment, and education. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, and your services continue to make a significant impact,” he said.

The silver jubilee not only celebrated Radio Apac’s 25 years of excellence but also highlighted its enduring role as a platform for cultural preservation, innovation, and community development. The day’s activities filled attendees with joy, pride, and inspiration as they reflected on the station’s achievements and its future.
