UPDF Impersonator Arrested in Kwania District

The territorial police in Kwania District has in custody one Byaruhanga Tracy who claimed to be a UPDF officer at the rank of a captain attached to Gadafi barracks.

North Kyoga Police spokesperson SP Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the development saying the suspect, Byaruhanga Tracy was arrested following a report made on the 5th March 2023 by Rtd Cpt Omara Alex and others who had a case of assault at CPS-Kwania, the so-called Cpt Byaruhanga Tracy had asked Omara and the team to take one million shillings so that their case is not taken to court.

“The DPC Kwania and his detectives immediately made arrangements with the complainant and asked the lady to bring the money to Freedom Bar, indeed she came in the company of the GISO Aduku Town council Mr Okello Geoffrey”, Okema Said.

According to Okema, the lady started threatening the officers claiming she was going to call the RDC Kwania where an opportunity was given to her but also failed to call which prompted her arrest by the Police

Okema said after taking her to police, she was searched only to discover some items like 5 smoking pipes, some tree roots, feathers which is attributed to witch craft act all were packed in her small bag.

Also in the bag, there was a small plastic bottle of Uganda waragi which she forcefully grabbed from an officer and drunk it, this gave her more courage to fight the officers, but was subdued and taken to police cells according to Mr Okema.

Okema said If the investigation is concluded, the woman will be charged of personation contrary to Sec 381 of the Penal Code Act.

He however appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant about such cone people and report timely to police for arrest and possible prosecution before court.
