Be Godly while handling patients, Rtd Bishop tell Nurses

Retired West Lango Bishop Emeritus Rev Alfred Acur Okodi ,has implored health workers to have all-inclusive love when handling patients who visit their respective places of work in order to tap God’s blessings.

Bishop Acur who is the chairperson governing council of Florence Nightingale school of nursing and midwifery Apac, was speaking as the chief guest during the international nurse’s day commemoration at Florence Nightingale school campus last week on 12/05/2023.

Bishop Acur appealed to nurses and all health workers to always display extreme love to patients since it’s among the indicators towards a quick healing of a sick person, he however warned them against insolence which send bad signals to patients.

He later cautioned the student body against indulging themselves in homosexuality and immoral like behaviors which he says has become rampant of late in various institutions of learning across the country.

The Chief Executive Officer of the School Dr Joseph Odongkara recognized the students and staff who actively participated in numerous activities including cleaning several places within Apac municipality during Nurses week as they are basis of cleanliness.

Dr Odongkara however asked health workers to continuously imitate and depict the generous heart of the foundational philosopher of modern nursing Ms. Florence Nightingale especially her precious and intellectual abilities in comprehending how the sick should be loved and treated.

Mr Martin Ekel who is the school director warned those pursuing the profession to always portray good images in order to change the status quo since in most cases health workers are labelled as the greatest corrupt and arrogant individuals contrary to their slogan of loving and serving.

International Nurses Day, observed annually on May 12, commemorates the birth of a foundational philosopher of modern nursing Ms. Florence Nightingale  and celebrates the important role of nurses in health care and this years commemoration was themed ‘’Our Nurses, Our Future’’.
