Over 146 students from Apac seed secondary school in Apac district were on Monday passed out after undergoing an intensive training on patriotism.

During the pass out ceremony held at Apac seed secondary school ground, the Apac resident district commissioner Mr. George Abudul who was the chief guest said the training is part of an initiative that the security committee has thought of to help schools instil discipline among the learners as well as driving them to develop love for the state and the environment they live in.

He said patriotism is one way of trying to shape a person to be a good citizen and that that person must liberate him/herself from that prison where he or she thinks one can just live on handouts.

Mr Abudul however cautioned those with bad perception towards patriotism to style up especially those who say patrotism is for President Museveni and NRM party saying its only through Patriotism that a person can develop love for oneself.

Ms Milly Acio Anyac, the coordinator patriotism activities in the district said the 146 students passed out went through many topics, ranging from introduction to patriotism and leadership skills, issues of the environment among others.

She later implored students who hasn’t yet joined the club to do so in order to develop love for their environment and the nation.

Apac Seed is a mix day and boarding secondary school which started functioning in Feb 2020 with 520 students and now the student’s population has grown to over 1028 according to the headteacher Mr. James Akeba.

A total of 67 boys and 79 girls were passed out during this exercise.
