Red Cross, NFA, Club 146 and schools team-up to clean Apac streets

Uganda Red Cross Apac in partnership with club 146 and National Forestry Authority yesterday teamed up to clean streets in Apac municipality through a campaign dubbed “keep Apac municipality clean”.

This was organised in collaboration with other partners that included Apac Municipal council, Apac seed sec school, Arocha primary school, Maruzi seed Sec school, Apac primary school, among others. The purpose of the campaign is to intensify and increase knowledge on proper Hygiene, awareness on waste management for promotion of good health within Apac Municipality.

Mr. Sam Mugisha the Apac Red cross territorial manager told our news desk that the campaign is geared towards shaping Apac municipality towards an objective of being the cleanest in the entire country.

He said such a community engagement is a major source of morale and encouragement for the community to improve their hygiene and sanitation for a clean surrounding.

The cleaning exercise going on in Apac town

Ambrose Okello the proprietor of Club 146 Apac said, as the organizers of the drive they are borrowing a leaf from hygienic urban centers like Gulu city, Fort portal and other places where community freely partake cleanliness without being forced by authorities.

Ms. Juliet Auma the Apac area national forestry manager acknowledged the efforts by Apac community towards a clean green environment and promised to always be part of various initiatives towards cleaning and greening Apac as a whole since its among their mandates as National Forestry Authority.

She also pledged to give tree seedlings for the schools that participated in the drive.

According to global statistics, many people die in underdeveloped countries due to lack of sanitation a thing the organisers of “keep Apac municipality clean” campaign challanged everyone to fight upon.
