42-year-old man arrested in Kwania over alleged sodomy

The territorial police in Kwania District are holding a 42-year-old man one Onep Moses on allegations of sodomizing a 15-year boy.

Onep who is a resident of Acut village, Apire parish, Aduku Sub-County Kwania District is accused to have sodomised a 15 yrs old boy who is a chapati maker at Ogobi cell, Teduka ward, Aduku Town, Kwania District.

Addressing the media on Friday morning the North Kyoga regional police Spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema says the Complainant who’s a 15 year old boy also a chapati marker said the incident happened in the wee hours of 2nd Aug 2023. the suspect Onep Moses who is also the complainant’s boss at work is said to have approached him (the complainant) and requested to go with him at his home so that he could be assisted with bread making as he does.

The victim went and the suspect purportedly intoxicated him with some substance yet under investigation, the boy lost consciousness but on gaining his senses, he was feeling a lot of pain around his anus and the suspect was naked, again he started telling him that he is very handsome and offered him cash shs 1000 which he refused, instead he decided to report the incident to a neighbor who quickly called for Onep’s arrest, a narration by the complainant according to Mr Okema.

Police visited the scene, suspect examined on Pf 24 and found to be HIV+, the Victim was also examined on Pf 3a and found to be around 15yrs of aged and still HIV-, however he is already on pep.

File will be submitted to RCSA for perusal and advice on a preferable charge from the new Homosexuality Act according to Okema.

President Museveni in May this year signed into law the anti-LGBTQ bill, the bill includes the death penalty for “aggravated homosexuality’ which includes sex with a minor, having sex while HIV positive and incest.

The bill also criminalizes sex education for the gay community and makes it illegal not to expose what it calls perpetrators of aggravated homosexuality to the police. It calls for “rehabilitation”– widely discredited conversion therapy – for gay offenders.
