Tom Olet, the LC3 Chairperson of Alito Sub-county told our news desk that it was on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 when a group of five men followed Onono to the garden where he was digging and started beating him up over a land wrangle. He said Onono was rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital but unfortunately died on arrival.

Tom Olet explains what happened

Olet said the land wrangle case among the clan brothers was already before their clan head of Okii- Amat clan for hearing but unfortunately the tragedy happened when the issue had not yet been settled. He noted that in retaliation, about 13 huts were burnt by suspected people who the residents think are the immediate relatives of the deceased.
