Eleven Suspects Escape From Dokolo CPS

Police of Dokolo Central Police Station are hunting for eleven suspects and investigating the circumstances under which they escaped from the cells.

The North Kyoge Police spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema says on the 23rd February 2023 at an unknown time in the night, the suspects escaped from lawful custody from Dokolo Central Police Station.

He said a case of escape from lawful custody has been registered vide Dokolo CEB 138/2023.

The officers who were deployed for night duty as cell guards have all been arrested and charged with neglect of duty and the scene has been documented by the Scene of Crime Officers, Statements were recorded from the suspects who were guarding the cells.

Okema said it was established that the doors to the cell were not tempered with rather, the suspects exited the cells by cutting one of the iron bars of the ventilators.

Out of the eleven escapees, nine of them were pending court and 02 were still under investigation.

As police, they appeal for support from local leadership in the hunt for these suspects such that they can be re-arrested and taken to court accordingly.

Among those that escaped are Raymond Okwang charged with theft, Innocent Owiny charged with burglary and theft, Allan Adep charged with burglary and theft, Daniel Okwir charged with assault, and Ivan Epong charged with theft of cash worth 1.2 million shillings, among others.
