Police in Agago district, through Patongo Central Police Station, are investigating a chilling case of domestic violence that led to the death of a 22-year-old woman, Akot Maurine, a resident of Lalal East village in Adilang Central ward, Adilang town council.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred after a heated quarrel broke out between the deceased and her sister, Auma Agnes, which residents believe had been ongoing for some time.
It is alleged that during the confrontation, Auma Agnes, who had hidden a knife in her clothing, suddenly pulled it out and stabbed Akot Maurine in the right shoulder. The injured Maurine was rushed to Dr. Fargale Hospital in Adilang for emergency treatment but, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries.
Speaking on the matter, the Regional Police Spokesperson for Aswa East Region, Inspector of Police (IP) Oloya Joe, confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody at Patongo Central Police Station. He further stated that upon completion of investigations, Auma Agnes will be arraigned in court on charges of murder.
The tragic incident has left the community of Adilang in shock and mourning, as calls intensify for increased awareness and intervention on domestic violence issues.
