Kitgum Police investigate another murder case

Police in Kitgum District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of a man identified as Odera Jacob, who died from assault.

It is alleged that the deceased, a resident of Labworomor Village, Lulwa Parish, Orom Subcounty, had left home for a trading centre but was waylaid, assaulted, and later succumbed to his injuries.

The body was discovered on Wednesday morning by residents of nearby Dodoma Village, Lulwa Parish, Orom Subcounty, who immediately alerted local authorities.

The Aswa East spokesperson, AIP Oloya Joe, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview and urged the public to assist the investigation by providing any crucial information, as no suspect has been arrested so far.

According to the spokesperson, scene-of-crime officers, led by detectives from Kitgum Central Police Station, have visited the site and taken statements. The body has been taken to Namokora Health Centre IV for a post-mortem as the investigation continues.

Gang-related violence has intensified in the area, largely perpetrated by youths who commit assaults, thefts, sexual offences, and forcibly take personal belongings.
