Agago District authorities have halted the planned distribution of mosquito nets that was scheduled to take place on April 14, 2026, after officials reported low household registration coverage across the district.

Health officials say the registration exercise, which is intended to identify households eligible to receive mosquito nets, has so far reached only 64.31 percent coverage. Authorities note that the distribution cannot proceed until all households are properly registered to ensure that every family receives the required mosquito nets.

The Assistant Resident District Commissioner of Agago, Susan Moro Akot, urged Village Health Teams and Local Council One chairpersons to intensify community mobilization efforts. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that residents cooperate with registration teams so that the district can achieve full coverage and proceed with the distribution exercise.

The Agago District Health Educator, William Onyai, explained that mosquito nets will only be distributed when the registration reaches one hundred percent coverage. He said the exercise is designed to ensure that no household is left out of the malaria prevention program.

With malaria cases reported to be on the rise in several parts of the district, health experts say mosquito nets remain one of the most effective tools in preventing the disease. Health officials add that consistent use of mosquito nets significantly reduces malaria infections, especially among children under five years and pregnant women who are most vulnerable to the disease.
