Northern Uganda’s sensational actress, TikToker, journalist, businesswoman, rights activist, and singer Lamaro Isabella has urged men across the Acholi sub-region to use this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations as an opportunity to commit to marriage.
The outspoken entertainer, popularly known as Bella, made the remarks on Saturday, 7th March, while releasing her latest song titled “Pe ki bi nyomi” under Rock Star Edutainment Africa.
In her message, Bella questioned why many hardworking women in family settings are often not appreciated, valued, respected, or married, as tradition and culture dictate.
Her new song, “Pe ki bi nyomi”, loosely translated as “You won’t be taken into marriage as a wife,” reflects the decline in cultural values, highlighting how many men take women for granted and avoid formalising relationships through marriage.
According to Bella, many women continue to work tirelessly to support their families, only to be neglected by men who misuse family resources.
However, in an interview, she was quick to caution fellow women to balance their rights with their roles.
Bella warned that heavy drinking, recklessness, and the failure to value women have gradually eroded the foundations of love and stability in the Acholi sub-region, an area once known for peaceful and united families.
Through her music and public platform, the multi-talented entertainer said she hopes to spark conversations about responsibility, respect for women, the restoration of cultural values in homes, and justice for women.
International Women’s Day 2026, under the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” calls for action to dismantle all barriers to equal justice.
