The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Agago District, Nabinson Kidega Nok, has ordered the immediate reshuffle of several Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCO leaders following serious allegations of corruption and mismanagement of programme funds.
The directive comes after investigations by district security agencies uncovered cases in which some SACCO leaders were suspected of diverting or misusing funds intended to benefit community members under the government’s flagship poverty eradication initiative.
According to RDC Kidega, authorities have already arrested 30 SACCO leaders implicated in the alleged corruption, adding that more than Shs50 million has been recovered from the suspects.
The arrests form part of a broader effort by the district security committee to safeguard public resources and ensure that the Parish Development Model achieves its intended purpose.
RDC Kidega emphasised that the reshuffle of SACCO leadership structures is aimed at restoring integrity, strengthening transparency, and rebuilding public trust in the programme.
Despite the challenges encountered, the RDC noted that the implementation of the Parish Development Model in Agago District remains largely successful, particularly in improving access to financial resources and enhancing community participation in local development initiatives. Records show that beneficiaries across the district have already received 98 per cent of the PDM funds.
The programme has so far benefited more than 22,000 women, 17,000 men and 16,000 youth households, demonstrating its significant reach and impact in supporting community livelihoods.
