Can a community fishpond improve livelihoods while helping protect the environment? In this episode of Lok Pa Lapur (Farmers’ Voice), we travel to Odom Fish Pond in Adilang Town Council, Agago District, to explore how this community initiative is creating opportunities through fish farming and what it means for wetland conservation.
Discover how fish farming can provide food and income while reducing pressure on wild fish stocks and encouraging communities to protect natural wetlands. The episode explores why wetlands matter for water storage, biodiversity and local livelihoods, and how responsible fishpond management can complement wider conservation efforts.
We also look at the challenges the community has faced, the successes achieved and the lessons other communities in Northern Uganda can learn from the experience.
Listen to the full episode here, and discover how a community fishpond can become more than a source of fish and also be an opportunity to support livelihoods and inspire environmental conservation.
