Gen Muhoozi meets Rwot Acana to discuss peace and security in Acholi

The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Monday, June 17th 2025 paid a courtesy visit to the Paramount Chief of Acholi, Rwot David Onen Acana II, as part of his ongoing tour of UPDF operations in Northern Uganda.

Gen Kainerugaba, who also serves as the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, was accompanied by Maj Gen Felix Busizoori of the 4th Division and Maj Gen Keith Katungi of the 5th Division.

The two commanders oversee UPDF operations across Northern Uganda, including areas along the borders with South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Gen Busizoori and Gen Katungi also graced the meeting.

Upon arrival in Gulu, the General was welcomed by a group of Acholi chiefs before meeting privately with Rwot Acana. Their discussions centered on strengthening collaboration between the UPDF and the Acholi cultural institution to support peace, stability, and development in the region.

Rwot Acana praised the UPDF for its continued role in securing the region, while Gen Kainerugaba reiterated the army’s commitment to safeguarding civilians and enhancing government initiatives across Northern Uganda.
