In Kamuli, the term has begun at a slow pace, as schools have registered a low turnout of students and pupils in both secondary and primary schools. Our reporter moved around Kamuli town and its surroundings and found that many schools had only a few learners, although teachers were present and reporting for duty as required by the government.
Speaking to us, Mr. Wanume Hussein, the headteacher of Kyabazinga College, said that the students would have turned up in large numbers, but there was misinformation that the reporting date had been extended, and many parents were disorganised because of this. He, however, asked the community to embrace education and send students to school early for better preparation for their studies.
He added that senior students are expected to report on the 16th next week and encouraged them to begin early in order to catch up with the new curriculum.

Elsewhere at Central College Kamuli, we found a similarly low number of students on the school premises, as others were still reporting. The headteacher, Mr. Mpasa Ramadan, gave the same message, saying they experienced a low turnout due to misinformation.
Meanwhile, the Kamuli District Resident District Commissioner, Ms. Rose Birungi, asked the community to guide students and children to report for studies, noting that this term is shorter and therefore needs much attention.
