Motorists in Mbale City have called upon the City council authorities and other stakeholders to restore the traffic lights along Pallisa road and Nabuyonga rise in a bid to combat the increasing number of road accidents around the junction.

According to the supervisor of Mbale City drivers and owners association, Bashir Shafa Mabajja, the City council has been asked to restore the lights that have been malfunctioning for a long period of time but nothing has been materialized.

The traffic warden in Mbale City’s taxi park, Mr Badiru Watuwa, says the concerned authorities should restore the lights since accidents are becoming rampant around the junction where the traffic lights are situated.

Mr James Masolo, Kampala-Mbale Express driver says they find it hard to use the route since both the students and motorists tend to concurrently cross through the junction which puts many lives at a risk.

Masolo has further called upon the concerned persons and authorities to constantly supervise works on roads in order to come up with clear road maintenance plans.

Efforts to get any information from the City Council’s Public Relations Officer, Mr James Kutosi concerning the matter were futile as his available phone contacts were busy.
