Women urged to embrace saving money

Women in the Eastern region have been called upon to embrace the saving culture in homes and businesses. 

This call was made by the Equity Bank supervisor, Ms. Salima Kauma during the exhibition of “bakyala ku ntiko” at Mbale Courts View Hotel.

Kauma called upon the women to open up bank accounts than saving their money at there home as one of the ways to end up poverty and build their self-esteem.

She also encouraged the women to manage and plan on how to spend their funds in this changing society.

“Women here today, always envision yourselves and embrace technology for development in the families,” Kauma said.

Rebecca Kaitisi, a single mother and vendor at industrial market, says Equity Bank has helped her and transformed her dreams through  funds hence sustaining her business.

She further asked the bank to reduce on the interest rates at least by 1% for women in the region.

The representative of the chairperson for Women’s League, Lydia Wanyoto thanked Equity Bank for the initiative.

She however, appealed to the women within the region to actively participate in government programs like Emyooga and PDM to eradicate poverty in the community.
