Chosen Evangelical Revival (CER) church holds mass weddings.

A total of 6 couples yesterday tied the knot during a mass wedding at Oyengyeng Chosen Evangelical Revival (CER) in Acholibur. The ceremony was presided over by Rev William Okeny Wilberforce.

The newly wedded couples include; Bosco Olanya & Ayaa Grace, Bosco Oryem & Auma Poline and Simon Peter Kinyera & Alok Betty who made the marriage vows during the prayer.

William said people should advise married couples rather than encourage them to separate. He said separation of couples sets a bad example for the youth who emulate the practice.

Many married couples nowadays are separated because of riches. The married couples should use the riches that God has given them together as a family. The Bible says whatever God has joined together no one can separate.

William told married couples to consult the church for counseling if they have problems instead of opting for separation.

He cautioned married couples against adultery, saying many families had been broken due to unfaithfulness.

He urged men to respect their wives, stressing that there is need for a mutual understanding between a man and a woman in order to have a respectable family.

He added that though men are the heads of families, this should not be used to undermine others. Some men marry other women when they grow rich, which is wrong.

According to Rev. William, such behavior had led to widespread HIV/AIDS infections among married couples. He urged Christians to be truthful, modest, respectful and to value other people’s cultures.
