In an attempt to make Lango sub region go green the paramount chief elect Dr. Engineer Moses Micheal Odongo Okune planted 2,000 trees at Agwingiri Girls secondary school in Amolatar District last week.
The Paramount chief elect who is now on his regional tour after winning election in March this year says he will be planting trees in an initiative of making Lango sub region green.
With the assistance from National Forestry Authority, the Paramount chief advised his subjects to plant trees that will help them generate money, eat, and benefit from its oxygen and airation for good health.
He also pledged for 30 bags of cements for the construction of a toilet at Agwingiri girls’ secondary at Agwingiri sub county, Amolatar District.
The paramount chief also visited the centre of Uganda, a site that was discovered in 2013.
Milton Mutu, a tour guide of the day who also doubles as one of the people who opened the site, asked the Wonyaci Eng. Odongo Okune for the modernization of the site when he assumes office.
He also added that the monument is built with 56 tribes in Uganda.
Dr. Mutu however added that the center of Uganda is the central point of the country that will help in the unification of all tribes in the country for the great course.
He later went and visited Mzee Yeko Odongo Ebong, former clan head of Etam clan and also former representative of the paramount chief in Amolatar.
Mzee Yeko Odongo gave out his land for the centre of Uganda monument.
The centre of Uganda falls in, Olyaka Parish, Namasale Sub County, Amolatar District.
However, while at the district council of Amolatar, chairperson local council five Geoffrey Ocen Kiring asked the paramount chief elect that when he assumes office he will help them with the issues of fishing on Lake Kyoga that has killed many fishermen.
In his response the paramount chief elect asked the leaders to unit if the issues of lake should stabilize.
He asked leaders to cooperate among themselves and find possible solutions if the law that has been put on issues such as fishing does not favour their people so that they met the president over it.
“I am much aware that the government cannot send UPDF to kill her people in the lake but the officers responsible for shooting and killing fishermen are responsible as a person.“
He also appealed that officers responsible for the killing of fishermen be brought to community court martial just like elsewhere where when army officer commits murder offense are brought back to the community for hearing.
He also told fishermen to use the law currently in place to avoid misunderstanding between the security and fishermen until when the leaders meet the President over the law.
He also asked couples to desist from domestic violence that he said is very common in Amolatar.
He added that he heard with much pain that young couples killed husband because of bed sheet, something unbelievable.
He asked the clan head to work hard on the issues of domestic violence so homes can be a better place once again.
He also asked parents to not very much charge bride price so that young men can marry and be responsible.
The paramount chief elect will be crowned in as paramount chief on November 2nd, 2024.
