Women in Amolatar are currently motivated and working diligently to advance their empowerment amid rising poverty in the area.

During a meeting held on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, at the women’s mill premises, the participants resolved not to overlook the upcoming Women’s Day celebrations and established a committee that is set to meet the President on the day.

Judith Acana, Chairperson of the Amolatar Women Mill Association, stated that the women of Amolatar have a vision to develop a strategic plan to establish a common market, enabling them to benefit collectively and expand their market reach.

She further emphasised that the President had previously promised several grants for their milling facility, including tractors and trucks to boost production, and they intend to use the forthcoming Women’s Day celebration as an opportunity to remind him to fulfil his commitment.

The Deputy RDC, Mr Obonyo Magwar, known for his close oversight of the project, took responsibility for connecting the women with the President’s office, noting that the pledge was made back in 2010 but, due to poor leadership and reluctance, these promises have yet to be realised.

Ketty Obang, representing the women, expressed their hope that the President would support the group by providing expensive machinery, such as tractors and lorries, as well as capital to accelerate their SACCO activities.

Anna Okot Sam, a member of the SACCO, also stated that, as women living along the lake shores, they hope the President will consider constructing a fish-processing plant to boost fisheries-related businesses for women in the district.
