Security forces in Amolatar District have arrested four suspected gang members following a late-night security operation in Amolatar Town Council.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of Thursday, 2 July 2026, targeted a known crime hotspot near the Golden Gas petrol station in Inomo Cell.

According to the North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, a team led by the District Police Commander conducted the raid between 1:00am and 4:00am.

The suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Steven Okullo, 19-year-old Brian Aluli, 25-year-old Paul Eling, and 24-year-old Gerald Obura, a student at Amolatar Secondary School.

Police say the suspects are part of a criminal syndicate responsible for a recent wave of burglaries and thefts within the town council.

All four are currently detained at Amolatar Police Station, where they are recording statements.

This marks the third major anti-crime operation conducted in the district within the past month. SP Okema emphasised that such intelligence-led operations will continue indefinitely to dismantle criminal networks and restore safety in the region.
