The newly inaugurated LC5 Chairperson of Amolatar, Ogwal Moris, has pledged to significantly improve service delivery, ensure job availability, and uphold accountability throughout his five-year tenure.
These commitments were articulated during the swearing-in ceremony held at the district headquarters, where newly elected district leaders officially assumed office amid emphatic calls for integrity, peaceful leadership transitions, and unwavering dedication to public service.
In his remarks shortly after taking the oath, Ogwal portrayed his electoral victory not as a cause for celebration but as a clear mandate for action.
He urged fellow district leaders to focus their efforts on delivering tangible services to the community. Recognizing corruption, particularly related to the sale of jobs within the district, as a critical challenge, Ogwal vowed to tackle the issue head-on.
He warned that should corrupt practices persist under his watch, he would refrain from seeking re-election, underscoring his commitment to clean governance.
In a related development, Amolatar’s Chief Administrative Officer, Mrs. Rhoda Oroma, formally handed over office to Ogwal. She expressed optimism about a collaborative approach in serving the public throughout the new leadership period.
The event also witnessed the swearing-in of thirty-eight district councilors alongside the district chairperson, presided over by His Worship Joe Fat Adoko, the Chief Magistrate of Lira. The councilors took their oaths in two separate groups, marking the official start of their duties.
Furthermore, the councilors elected Oyuku Geoffery Namsale, town councilor, as the district speaker. He will be ably supported by Apolo Naume, the female district youth councilor, who was chosen as his deputy.
Together, this leadership team is expected to steer the district council towards effective governance and responsive representation.
