The appointment of five primary school headteachers in Amolatar District has come under scrutiny amid allegations that they forged academic documents.
The accused include Jimmy Okello, headteacher of Agwingiri Primary School; Caroline Atala of Aburkidi Primary School; Lawrence Okello of Aweiwot Primary School; and Richard Ogweng of Muntu Township Primary School.
Francis Okello Odoki Rwotlony, the Amolatar Resident District Commissioner, stated that his office discovered some of the appointees had forged documents to indicate they had served for several years as deputy headteachers, in an attempt to convince the appointing committee that they had sufficient leadership experience.
He said their actions undermine the professional standards designed to ensure competent school leadership.
Rwotlony has consequently directed the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to revoke their appointments.
He was speaking to the media today, Thursday 5 March 2025, in his office in Amolatar.
Rwotlony attributed the district’s recent poor PLE performance to the appointment of these inadequately qualified headteachers.
He also criticised the District Human Resource Department for failing to verify their documents prior to their appointments.
Rwotlonyo, however, expressed hope for improved UACE results despite the district’s poor PLE performance.
In a related development, he accused some churches operating in the district of undermining government programmes.
He specifically mentioned churches such as Journey to Heaven and Fist of Trumpet, alleging that they preach doctrines that hinder government initiatives, and warned that they risk being closed.
Okello stated that this situation undermines the professional standards designed to ensure competent leadership.
