The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Amolatar, Francis Okello Odoki Rwotlonyo, has ordered the immediate arrest of Orech Solomon and Akinyi Eunice following a brutal torture incident involving their 10-year-old stepson, Masika Fred. The distressing event took place yesterday in Amolatar Headquarters B, Inomo Ward, within the Amolatar Town Council.
According to eyewitness reports, Orech Solomon locked the child inside their home and subjected him to severe physical abuse.
Shockingly, he then ignited a burning jerrican and poured it over Masika Fred’s body, causing serious injuries. A passerby intervened just in time to rescue the boy, who was taken to the residence of the LC1 chairperson, Muge Tom, for immediate care.
A delegation from the Human Rights Commission, led by Mr. Opok Dan from the Amolatar branch, visited the boy at the LC1’s residence.
They took custody of Masika Fred and transported him to the office of the RDC. Subsequently, the child was brought to the police station where a formal case of torture was registered under SD REF: 62/20/02026.
The authorities also issued a medical form to facilitate urgent treatment, and the boy was taken to Amolatar Health Center IV for medical attention.
The RDC has condemned the act in the strongest terms and instructed the police to ensure that both Orech Solomon and Akinyi Eunice are arrested without delay to face the full force of the law.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports indicate that the couple may have fled their home following the incident.
This case highlights the critical need for vigilant community protection and swift legal action against perpetrators of child abuse in the region. The Amolatar community and authorities remain committed to safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring justice is served.
