The deceased, identified as Jacob Okwang, died on October 26, 2026, after the incident at Alelangao B Village, Odyam Parish, Muntu Sub-county.
According to police, the brothers were inside their house at about 9am when a disagreement broke out for reasons that remain unclear. The dispute reportedly escalated into a physical fight, during which the suspect allegedly hit Okwang on the head.
Tom Okello, a resident of the area, told police that Okwang sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Alelangao Health Centre II. However, he died shortly afterwards.
His body was later transferred to Amolatar Health Centre IV, where it was being held pending a postmortem examination.
Officers from Amolatar Central Police Station visited the scene, documented evidence and recorded statements from witnesses. The suspect was arrested as investigations continued.
North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed that a murder case had been registered at Muntu Police Station.
The incident is the second reported murder in the Lango Sub-region in October involving an 18-year-old suspect. On October 14, 2026, 40-year-old Moses Solex Nam was allegedly killed by his 18-year-old nephew during a dispute over land.
Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
