Three boreholes in Otuke East, Otuke District, and one in Abia sub-county, Alebtong District, were commissioned by Member of Parliament Julius Achon.
This was part of his project to drill 10 new boreholes.
The sites for the new boreholes include: Ajia in Gotojwang parish (Olilim sub-county), Te-Oboke in Omwonylee parish (Ogor sub-county), Atinkok in Abia sub-county (Alebtong), and Awaka Ogik in Anep-Moroto parish (Orum sub-county, Otuke District).
Francis Omara and several residents who spoke during the commissioning admitted they were previously worried that Achon might not deliver.
They noted that many politicians often make empty promises during election seasons to win votes, leading some to believe these were merely “political lies.
MP Julius Achon Bua stated that during the campaign period, he moved across Otuke East and promised residents he would end the water crisis in the district.
He vowed to extend his hand to various parts of the Lango sub-region so residents could access clean water for their needs.
Achon emphasized his desire for residents to use the water for productive activities to generate income.
He also noted that access to clean water would help fight diseases caused by poor sanitation and dirty water, supporting both his efforts and the government’s goal of protecting citizens’ health.
He also inspected the borehole sites to ensure they were properly fenced so that livestock would not share the same water source as people, as has often happened in the past.
Achon promised that if God continues to protect him and grant him good health, he will use all his connections to seek international support for his constituents.
He highlighted his participation in marathon races in Australia, which helps raise funds to drill boreholes, distribute clothing, and provide various forms of aid to the community.
