Amolatar Senior Six student dies of diabetes

A sombre mood has engulfed Amolatar Secondary School following the sudden death of Kawesa Augustin, a Senior Six student who succumbed to diabetes on Tuesday evening.

According to family sources, Augustin fell ill on Friday, August 14, 2026.

His condition deteriorated critically on Tuesday evening, prompting an emergency transfer to Kamuli Hospital.

Medical personnel at the facility placed him on oxygen support for two hours in an effort to stabilise his condition.

Despite the doctors’ efforts, Augustin passed away shortly afterwards.

Medical reports confirmed that he had been battling diabetes.

Augustin, who was in his final year of advanced secondary education, was a brother to Mr Bateganya, a teacher at Amolatar Secondary School.

Burial arrangements and further details from the school administration are yet to be announced.

The school community is mourning the loss of a promising young student whose potential was cut short by illness.
