Police in Amolatar District are holding a 30-year-old woman for allegedly defiling a minor.

The suspect, identified as Brenda Aketowanga, was arrested on Tuesday, 12 May at Alemere Trading Centre.

Reports indicate that Aketowanga, from Agago District, had allegedly been harbouring the victim for about two weeks.

Aketowanga originally moved to Awelo Sub-county with her husband, a security guard working in Jinja.

However, she later relocated to Alemere Trading Centre where she worked as a tailor.

While there, she allegedly lured the victim, who had been working in a local business.

The child’s family later discovered their whereabouts on Tuesday and went to the tailor’s house.

Aketowanga denied that the child was inside, but the relatives forced their way in and found the victim concealed inside the house.

The suspect is currently detained at Amolatar Central Police Station under Police Desk Reference number 23/12/05/2026.

Yesterday evening, both the suspect and the victim were taken for mandatory medical examinations as investigations continue.
