The Amolatar District local government has sanctioned its 2026/2027 financial roadmap, totaling UGX 32,016,169,000. Funded largely by the central government (UGX 30.7bn) alongside donor support and local revenue, the budget allocates the lion’s share to infrastructure, production, and social services. Key sectors include human capital development (UGX 20bn) and public sector transformation (UGX 4.3bn), aimed at driving the district’s mid-term development goals.

The local government of Amolatar district has sanctioned a budget of 32.016169 billion shillings for the fiscal year 2026/2027, marking an increase from the 31 billion allocated in the previous fiscal year 2025/2026.

This budget was read and presented to the council on 11th May 2026 by the outgoing LCV chairperson, Geoffery Ocen Kiring.

According to Ocen, the approved budget includes projected funding sources comprising 30.724169 billion from the central government, 682 million from external donors, and 610 million generated from local revenue within the district and its sub-counties. The primary focus areas of this budget encompass infrastructure, production, education, health, and water sectors.

A substantial portion totaling 20.03405 billion has been allocated for human capital development, which covers health, education, community services, and water.

Integrated transport and infrastructure have been assigned 1.903499 billion, while tourism and private sector development receive 91.957 million.

The sectors of natural resources, environmental climate change, and land and water management have been given 238.253 million. Agro-industrialization is set to receive 1.883517 billion, governance and security 1.709774 billion, and public sector transformation—specifically administration—has been allocated 4.313867 billion. Execution of the development plan, including finance, planning, and internal audit functions, will be supported with 614.012 million.

However, tensions arose before the budget’s approval due to unpaid allowances, which had delayed council members’ receipt of their allowances for five minutes.

Etam male councilor, Mr. Ogang Polycap, representing the council, also rejected a proposal to appoint the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on land.

He argued that the person listed on page six of the order paper had not yet completed their term of office and had not resigned from the position, hence was ineligible for appointment.

Addressing the council after the budget approval, Mrs. Rhoda Oroma, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Amolatar, expressed her gratitude to the council members.

She assured them of her full cooperation in ensuring that the budget priorities are implemented effectively while emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the welfare of the district council.
