Operation wealth creation delivers seeds to boost Amolatar farmers’ production capacity

On August 4, 2026, the Office of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) delivered a substantial supply of seeds to Amolatar District. Ms. Apok, the regional coordinator of Equatorial Seed, confirmed that OWC provided 10 tons of maize seed and 5 tons of soya seed as part of an initiative to revitalize the district’s underutilized agro-processing facilities.

She emphasized that these seeds are authorized to be planted exclusively within Amolatar, ensuring the resources directly benefit the local agricultural community.

Rtd Col. Simba, the Operation Wealth Creation coordinator for Amolatar, highlighted the critical importance of ensuring these seeds reach their intended beneficiaries efficiently and transparently, reinforcing OWC’s commitment to supporting local farmers.

Mr. Francis Ojok, the production officer, shared that OWC has signed a contract with Equatorial Seed dealers specifically to supply seeds to cooperative groups in Amolatar.

He explained that this partnership aims to boost the production capacities of local growers and confirmed plans to register individual members from within these cooperatives to guarantee fair distribution of the seeds.

Honorable Okao Kizito, the Agikdak male councilor for Amolatar District, commended Operation Wealth Creation for the timely delivery of the seeds.

He noted that this support will significantly benefit local millers by fostering cooperation and strengthening the district’s agro-processing sector.

Awio Mike, the secretary for production and works, echoed the praise for the prompt arrival of seeds and stressed the importance of testing the seeds before distributing them to farmers.

He pointed out that the seed varieties introduced are new and called for training programs to equip farmers with up-to-date planting techniques to maximize yield.

Ms. Sarah Tyan, the assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC), lauded the Ugandan government’s ongoing commitment to backing farmers in Amolatar, describing the seed delivery as a vital opportunity for agricultural development.

She urged beneficiaries to plant early and appealed to them not to sell the seeds after receiving them, emphasizing the collective benefits of proper utilization.

Additionally, she requested that the production officer ensure extension officers actively reach out to farmers to provide guidance on best farming practices and optimize the impact of the seeds supplied.
