In a remarkable turn of events, Okaka Amon, a political newcomer from a local washing bay, has made history by being elected the new Speaker of Amolatar Town Council.
Serving as the Male Youth representative, Amon clinched a stunning victory in a closely contested election held on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026.
The election saw Amon triumph over former Deputy Mayor Honorable Akullo Dilish with a narrow ten-to-seven vote, signaling a fresh wave of leadership and hope for the people of Amolatar.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Amolatar Town View, where councilors gathered to witness the beginning of a new chapter in the town’s governance.
Presiding over the event, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Vuciri Geoffrey urged unity and reconciliation among council members and residents alike, emphasizing that collaborative efforts are essential for driving community development forward.
Similarly, Mayor Geoffrey Gregory Etum re-echoed the Deputy CAO’s sentiments on unity and reconciliation, stressing the importance of collective action among council members and the wider community to foster sustainable development in Amolatar.
The newly formed Amolatar Town Council executive team is composed of dedicated individuals committed to transforming the town. Alongside Speaker Okaka Amon, the executive includes:
– Deputy Speaker: Juliet Alaba
– Vice Chairperson: Milly Emong
– Finance Secretary: Richard Opon
– Production and Works: Kennedy Etum
– Health and Education: Teddy Amony
