Amolatar Deputy RDC Magwar drives district progress through youth sport as Archbishop visits

In Amolatar, Uganda, a spirit of community and development is flourishing under the guidance of Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Obonyo Magwar. As the district prepares for a dynamic period ahead, Obonyo Magwar has taken significant steps to both celebrate local leadership and inspire the youth through sport.

Following the recent local council elections, Deputy RDC Magwar publicly congratulated the newly elected LC1 and LC2 leaders, acknowledging the trust they have earned from their communities.

He emphasized the importance of active civic participation and reminded the people of upcoming elections for women’s council leadership at the sub-county and district levels, with nominations and voting dates scheduled throughout August 2026.

His call for voter engagement reflects his commitment to fostering fair representation and inclusive governance in Amolatar.

In tandem with these political developments, Deputy RDC Magwar is spearheading an exciting initiative to nurture young talent and unite the community through sport. He announced plans to host an Under-14 football tournament for boys and girls this coming September, coinciding with the historic visit of the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda to the center region on September 19th. The tournament aims to honor the Archbishop’s presence while promoting regional development and youth empowerment.

“The winners of this tournament will proudly receive a cup presented by the Archbishop himself,” Magwar shared enthusiastically. Beyond the competition itself, the event symbolizes a broader vision for growth — one where improved infrastructure like the much-anticipated tarmacking of the Amolatar-Dokolo road can transform the center of Uganda. “Without good roads, the center cannot truly develop,” he stressed, underscoring how vital transport improvements are to unlocking the area’s potential.

Supporting this effort, youth volunteer Ivan Gwom rallied community stakeholders and well-wishers to back the tournament, highlighting its role in inspiring young athletes and strengthening local unity.

With the official launch scheduled for next week, preparations are underway to make the event a memorable highlight for Amolatar’s youth and residents.
