St Luke Church of Uganda in Amolatar Urban Archdeaconry has officially launched the construction of an archdeacon’s office and conference hall as part of activities to commemorate the church’s centenary anniversary.
The launch was supported by a donation of ten bags of cement from Susan Elwelu, who was represented by Ogwang Good Boy.
Rev. James Okaka, the principal celebrant, officially launched the construction project and delivered a theological message on the life and contributions of St Luke to the Christian faith. He encouraged the congregation to remain committed to the values of faith, service and generosity.
The chairperson of the laity, Denis Odur Obia, provided historical background on St Luke and highlighted the struggles and sacrifices made by the church’s founders a century ago. He also acknowledged God’s continued blessings, which have enabled the church to grow and reach its centenary milestone.
Roda, the Chief Administrative Officer of Amolatar and guest of honour, congratulated the Christian community on celebrating 100 years of St Luke’s existence. She noted that acts of generosity attract God’s blessings and encouraged continued support for the development project.
Church leaders expressed their appreciation to Susan Elwelu for her contribution and appealed to Christians, well-wishers and other benefactors to support the construction of the archdeacon’s office and conference hall.
Once completed, the facilities are expected to strengthen church administration and provide suitable space for church meetings, conferences and other activities.
