S1 Student fatally stabbed, friend injured in early morning Amolatar attack

A 16-year-old student, Odon Keneth, was fatally stabbed in Abedober village, Amolatar district, by an unknown assailant on a bicycle. The attack, which also injured a friend who was with him, occurred around 2 AM, and the body was subsequently taken to Amolatar Health Center IV for a postmortem.

A 16-year-old boy and S1 student at Kangai Secondary School, Odon Keneth, has tragically lost his life after being fatally stabbed by an unknown assailant in the early hours of the morning Sunday in Abedober village, Arwotcek parish, Amolatar district.

According to Onyang Sam, the grandfather of the deceased, the attack occurred around 2 AM. Odon was walking with his friend, Okot, the son of Adii Tonny, when an unidentified man on a bicycle approached them.

The assailant suddenly began stabbing Okot from behind.

When Odon turned to see what was happening, he was stabbed twice in the chest.

After the brutal attack, Okot placed Odon on the bicycle and attempted to rush him for help, but tragically, Odon succumbed to his injuries just a few meters away.

Okot, who sustained a stab wound to his back, was rushed to a clinic in Anyangoga trading center for medical treatment.

Moses Aboko, vice chairperson of LC3 Arwotcek and the newly elected LC3 for Arwotcek Sub-county, said the incident was brought to his attention around 2 PM via a call from a police officer at Alemere police post. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss, condemning the violent act that took the life of a promising young boy.

Police from Amolatar later arrived at the scene to retrieve Odon’s body, which was taken to Amolatar Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Police at Amolatar have launched investigations on the attack and calls for cooperation to reach the culprit.

Odon had recently completed his Primary Leaving Examination at Abaler Primary School last year and had just enrolled at Kangai Senior Secondary School this year as a Senior One student.

The community mourns the loss of a bright future cut short by this senseless act of violence.
