Hon. Jimmy Ayuli Okori has officially entered the race for the position of Speaker for the Amolatar District Local Government Council.
Representing Acii Subcounty as a Directly Elected Councilor, Ayuli frames his candidacy as a direct challenge to political godfatherism, financial influence, and weak leadership within the district.
Ayuli enters the race with an extensive academic and professional background in governance.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies, a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management. Additionally, he holds certifications in Project Monitoring and Evaluation, as well as Decentralisation and Local Government Systems Management.
His professional experience spans across central and local government systems, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the private sector, and community-based services.
Ayuli argues that this deep operational knowledge makes him uniquely qualified to lead the district’s apex legislative body.
In his announcement, Ayuli took aim at competing factions within the council, criticising the influence of external political “godfathers,” “godmothers,” and political camps.
He warned that certain weak candidates are being pushed forward solely to fulfill individual, self-serving interests rather than the needs of the electorate.
Ayuli urged fellow councilors to reject loose propaganda and financial inducements, asserting that the district council requires mature, courageous, and independent leadership that cannot be compromised.
Ayuli has positioned himself as a unifying figure aimed at fostering open discussions where all voices are heard and valued.
His platform focuses on several key priorities for the Amolatar District Council: Bridging political divides to focus on collective growth, ensuring equal allocation of resources across all subcounties, prioritising the well-being and capacity building of local leaders, implementing strict measures to fight corruption within local government systems, championing gender equality and equal opportunities for all residents.
Describing himself as mature, exposed, and prayerful, Ayuli stated that the council needs competent leadership to effectively oversee district affairs—a standard he claims his counterparts cannot match.
ln the race are 7 contestants namely Okao Kizito on Independent ticket, Opio Obote Francis on NRM ticket, Ewumu Patrick NRM ticket, Nam Eve Tyan NRM ticket, Ayuku Geoffrey NRM ticket and Obua Konypaco UPC ticket
The upcoming election will determine whether his message of independence and reform resonates with the majority of voting councilors.
