Parents arrested for marrying off a 14-year-old girl in Amolatar

Five people have been arrested for their involvement in the marriage of a 14-year-old girl.

On Friday, 9th August 2024, five people were arrested in Apokmitimogo ‘A’, Amolatar town council. Among those arrested is the girl’s mother, Apili Jenifer, along with four others who are currently being detained at Amolatar Central Police Station.

Among the fugitives is the girl’s husband, Mr Opii Rafile, a resident of Awonangiro and son of the LC1 of Awilwala village, along with his parents. The police are still searching for other suspects who remain at large.
