On March 7, 2025, Head Teacher Okot Joseph of Kings of Kings Secondary School in the Lango region made a compelling call to action for neighboring schools to adopt a similar dress code for female students by implementing long skirts.
Mr. Okot believes that this initiative is crucial in promoting decency and enhancing the overall appearance of young girls within the academic environment.
Speaking to our news desk, Mr. Okot expressed his conviction that the long skirt uniform not only fosters a sense of modesty but also uplifts the standard of appearance in the school.
He noted that the community has responded positively to this change, appreciating the institution’s commitment to encouraging a positive image among its female students.
In alignment with Mr. Okot’s vision, Akello Prossy, a senior three student at Kings of Kings, shared her perspective on why she chose to attend the school.
Akello highlighted the significance of the long skirt uniforms, stating that the dress code plays a key role in shaping young girls into responsible and respectful women.
Her sentiments echo the broader goal of the initiative, which seeks to instill values of decency and respect among students.
As Kings of Kings Secondary School continues to champion this approach, it stands as a beacon for other educational institutions in the region, urging them to consider the impact of dress codes on student behavior and community perception.
With leaders like Mr. Okot paving the path towards a more dignified school environment, the hope is that more schools will recognize the importance of fostering such initiatives for the benefit of their students and the larger community.
