Amolatar district draft budget proposes Shs 30.35 billion for 2025/2026

The local government of Amolatar district has unveiled its draft budget estimate of UGX 30,354,449,000 for the fiscal year 2025/2026. This ambitious fiscal plan outlines comprehensive financial strategies aimed at promoting development and improving service delivery within the district.
According to the revenue forecast presented by the Secretary for Finance and Administration, Sam Peter Onyang, the expected revenue streams are structured as follows:
Central government allocation: A significant portion of the budget, amounting to UGX 28,743,535,000, is expected to come directly from the central government. This allocation is vital for sustaining various developmental initiatives within the district.
Donor contributions: Additionally, it is anticipated that UGX 1,000,905,000 will be secured from donor agencies and development partners, reflecting ongoing partnerships that aim to strengthen the district’s financial capacity.
Local revenue projections: Local revenue estimates from both district and sub-county sources are projected at UGX 610,000,000, highlighting efforts to boost self-sustainability through internal revenue generation.

During the same meeting where the draft budget was presented, Eumu Patrick, the Secretary for Production and Marketing, proposed a supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2024/2025.
This supplementary budget is crucial for addressing immediate agricultural and health challenges. Key allocations include:
Vaccination against foot and mouth Disease: UGX 2.63 billion has been allocated for vaccination programmes aimed at combating foot and mouth disease, a vital initiative to protect local livestock and enhance food security.
Climate-smart agriculture initiatives: Additionally, UGX 151,694,580 has been set aside for climate-smart agriculture initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable farming practices in response to environmental changes.

The proposal was endorsed by Ketty Etap, a representative for persons with disabilities, highlighting the inclusive approach taken by the local government in addressing the diverse needs of the community in their strategic planning.
