SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, Police Spokesperson for the North Kyoga Region.

The territorial police in Alebtong district are currently investigating a serious case of aggravated defilement after an incident reported on April 20, 2025.

The complainant, Akello Anna, a 50-year-old resident of Agweng village, Akura parish, revealed that her 16-year-old daughter was allegedly defiled by Erem Denish, a 39-year-old teacher at Akura Senior Secondary School.

According to police spokesperson Okema, the alleged perpetrator has been accused of exploiting his position as a teacher to manipulate the victim.

He reportedly rented accommodation from the victim’s uncle and persuaded her to develop romantic feelings for him, promising to marry her.

The situation escalated when he frequently transported the victim on his motorcycle to school, further deepening the victim’s trust in him.

On March 24, 2025, the victim attended a football event at Abia Primary School, accompanied by other students.

It is alleged that Erem Denish followed her to the school and, around 6 PM, took her into the school premises where he sexually assaulted her without protection.

Following this incident, on April 18, 2025, routine health checks revealed that the victim was pregnant.

Consequently, on April 19, she was suspended from school and returned to her mother’s care, leading to Akello Anna filing the report with police the very next day.

A formal case of aggravated defilement has been registered, and the file has been transferred to the Central Police Station (CPS) in Alebtong for further action.

Witness statements, including those from the mother and the victim, have been recorded, and a PF 3A medical examination has been conducted—the results of which have been attached to the case file.

Authorities confirmed that the case file will be submitted to the Resident Chief State Attorney for review and legal guidance as investigations continue.

The community remains on high alert as police work diligently to ensure justice is served in this troubling case.
