Today, Thursday22nd.May.2025 , the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission, under the leadership of Dr. Tanga Odoi, has put forth a comprehensive set of guidelines to govern the upcoming district and city structure elections scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, across the nation.
These guidelines are aimed at ensuring a smooth electoral process as party members cast their votes to shape the future leadership of the NRM at various levels.
In addition to the district and city elections, the guidelines also encompass the procedures for expressions of interest, nominations, campaigns, and elections for the Workers and Entrepreneurs Leagues at both the District and City levels. This highlights the NRM’s commitment to engaging diverse groups within the party and fostering inclusive participation in the electoral process.
However, in a significant development, the Electoral Commission has announced the postponement of all elections in the districts of the Bunyoro subregion and greater Luweero districts.
This decision comes in light of the planned visit by President Yoweri Museveni and ongoing activities related to the Parish Development Model (PDM) tours, which require the President’s presence and focus in these areas.
Furthermore, elections will not take place in Arua City and Amolatar due to ongoing petitions that necessitate further legal scrutiny before any electoral processes can proceed.
The decisions regarding these postponements underscore the Commission’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process while accommodating significant political activities.
As the nation awaits the elections in various regions, the NRM Electoral Commission calls on all party members to adhere strictly to the newly issued guidelines and remain engaged in the democratic processes that define the party’s structure and governance.
