On Saturday, June 14th, 2025, a wave of optimism surged through the youth leaders of Opali subcounty when Mr. Okodo Peter, Director of the Jerusalem School of Health Sciences, graciously donated Shs1,000,000 to the newly formed Opali Youth SACCO.
This significant contribution was made during a meeting convened by the youth leaders to discuss initiatives aimed at uplifting their community.
The funds are earmarked as crucial seed capital for the savings and credit cooperative organisation (SACCO), which has faced considerable challenges in launching effectively due to limited financial resources.
Mr. Leke Frederick, the NRM Chairperson of the Youth League for Opali, articulated the goals and obstacles the SACCO is facing.
Despite these hurdles, he expressed a resolute commitment to improving the standard of living for youth in the subcounty through disciplined saving and enhanced access to credit facilities.
Ms. Asiime, Publicity Secretary of Opali subcounty, lauded Mr. Okodo for his timely and impactful generosity.
She emphasised that the Shs1,000,000 donation represents a transformative opportunity for the youth, urging them to rally behind Mr. Okodo and support his vision for their future.
While presenting the donation, Mr. Okodo underscored the critical importance of investing in youth, stating, “Youth are vital to our community and nation.
Unfortunately, many lack exposure to broader opportunities and development models.” In addition to the monetary support, he unveiled plans to broaden the horizons of the youth by taking them on a countrywide tour.
This initiative aims to expose them to successful development models, such as the four Hector model introduced by the NRM Government, fostering a deeper understanding of growth possibilities.
As he actively campaigns for election as the Member of Parliament for Kioga North Constituency in the upcoming 2026-2031 general elections, Mr. Okodo’s community involvement substantiates his commitment to the constituency’s development.
In a display of his generous spirit, Mr. Okodo recently made an additional contribution to the Christian community at Abwong St. John the Cross Catholic Chapel.
He donated ten bags of cement and a trip of sand for the construction of their church.
This gesture was gratefully acknowledged by Mr. Edit Lawrence, the chapel’s chairperson, who noted that their long-awaited assistance had finally arrived, promising to honor their commitments to Mr. Okodo.
Highlighting Mr. Okodo’s influential role, Acee Geoffrey, the chairperson of infrastructure, urged the christian community to support him, praising him as a remarkable individual dedicated to helping those in need.
Expressions of gratitude flowed from women leaders within the church, who offered prayers for Mr. Okodo’s protection and continued success.
Following this, on June 15, 2025, Mr. Okodo further extended his charitable outreach by donating ten bags of cement and another trip of sand to Awinyi Cuny Church, while also pledging the same support to Onoo Catholic Chapel.
His unwavering dedication to uplifting the youth and supporting community projects showcases his commitment to fostering a brighter future for those in the Kioga North Constituency.
