Amolatar people’s voice association raises shs 9.9 million in fundraiser

On Wednesday, 3 September 2025, the Amolatar People Voices Association achieved a remarkable milestone by raising an impressive UGX 9,899,000 through a dynamic fundraising event aimed at acquiring essential catering supplies.

This successful initiative highlighted the community’s commitment to supporting local catering groups and enhancing service offerings across the region.

Col. Dr John Francis Ongia, a prominent community figure and aspirant for the Kioga County parliamentary seat in 2026–2031, generously contributed UGX 1 million to this noble cause.

Addressing the eighteen catering groups assembled for the event, Col Ongia commended the members for their initiative in forming these groups, highlighting that their collective efforts represent a commendable path forward for the communities of Kioga County and Amolatar.

In his inspiring address, Col Ongia encouraged the citizens of Kioga County to remain steadfast, announcing his intention to contest the upcoming parliamentary race.

His words resonated with hope and determination, motivating attendees to persist in their endeavours for collective growth and support.

The guest of honour, Woman Member of Parliament for Amolatar, Dr Agness Atim Apea, echoed similar sentiments in her speech.

She expressed her unwavering support for all eighteen catering groups present at the event and emphasised the importance of trust among the electorate during the primaries.

Dr Apea highlighted the exemplary work of the Arwot Catering Service, which has been instrumental in providing support to the Etam community and the wider Amolatar region, especially during times of joy and sorrow.

In a call to action, Dr Apea urged those not currently part of any group to consider joining.

She emphasised that participation in such groups facilitates access to vital resources from both the government and non-governmental organisations, thereby promoting individual development and community strength.

The fundraising event not only bolstered financial support for catering supplies but also fostered a sense of unity and collaboration within the local community.

The Amolatar People Voices Association comprises radio callers who plan to utilise these funds efficiently to enhance the capabilities of local catering services, ensuring they can continue serving the community in various capacities.
