On Thursday, 11 September 2025, an important meeting convened at Amolatar Town Council, where chairpersons from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Kioga County publicly declared their unwavering support for the party’s flag bearers, from the parish level up to the presidency.

The gathering highlighted the unity and commitment of local leaders towards the collective goals of the NRM as they prepare for the upcoming elections.

Goddy Otoo, Vice Chairperson of NRM Amolatar and current Mayor of Namasale Town Council, played a prominent role in the discussions. He reassured Felix Adupa Ongwech, a key party candidate, to remain composed during the election period, emphasising the leadership’s readiness to support him throughout his parliamentary journey. Otoo’s message was clear: solidarity among party members is essential for electoral success.

Echoing these sentiments, Oluma John, Chairperson of NRM Agwingiri, reaffirmed his consistent support for the NRM flag bearer, emphasising his dedication to the party’s principles and candidates. His statement was met with agreement from Ojek, Chairperson of Namasale Sub-county, who reiterated his strong support, cementing the resolve of local leaders to present a united front.

Felix Adupa Ongwech responded positively, expressing his eagerness to collaborate with fellow NRM leaders and flag bearers. He addressed disruptive elements within the party, highlighting his decision to distance himself from those instigating conflict among members. Adupa called for unity, underscoring that collective effort is vital for achieving the NRM’s objectives.

The meeting was further reinforced by remarks from Mr Kamilo Olwit, NRM Chairperson of Amolatar, who urged all party leaders and supporters to lend full backing to the designated flag bearer. Olwit emphasised that such support is crucial not only for electoral gains but also for enabling the government under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to effectively address the pressing issues faced by constituents in Kioga County.

In conclusion, the meeting in Amolatar marked a significant step towards fostering unity within the NRM, as chairpersons rallied around their flag bearers and committed to working together in preparation for the electoral challenges ahead. The leaders’ collective voice reflects a strengthened resolve to uphold the party’s ideals and ensure successful representation of its candidates at all levels.
