Centenary Bank has donated 10 plastic garbage bins worth UGX 2.7 million to Amolatar district as part of its ongoing environmental conservation initiatives.
Speaking during the handover, the Manager of Centenary Bank Amolatar Branch, John Odwee, said the donation is in line with the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and commitment to environmental protection.
Odwee said as part of their CSR, Centenary Bank has been actively involved in conservation activities such as tree planting in public places, and donating garbage bins to the Ministry of Works and Transport to support proper waste management on the Kyoga EV Ferry that plies the Namasale–Zengebe route across Lake Kyoga.
He encouraged community members to embrace proper waste disposal practices in order to safeguard the environment.
The District Environment Officer, Molly Ayo, welcomed the donation, noting that it follows a request made to the bank to support waste management efforts, especially in urban areas.
Ayo said these bins which will be distributed to Amolatar and Namasale town councils, will greatly help in segregating biodegradable and plastic waste at the source.
She applauded Centenary Bank for the support and pledged to continue sensitising communities on proper waste management to ensure a clean and healthy environment.
