On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the residents of Alwala B village in Nalubwoyo sub-county Amolatar district gathered for a momentous occasion: the handover of a newly drilled borehole that promises to enhance access to clean water in Kioga County.
The initiative, funded by Col. Dr. John Francis Ongia with a generous contribution of 2 million Uganda shillings, was a cause for celebration among the community members.
During the ceremony, Col. Ongia emphasized the vital role of clean water access in improving the health and well-being of residents.
He highlighted the importance of responsible usage and maintenance of the borehole infrastructure to ensure a sustained supply of clean drinking water.
With aspirations to represent Kioga County in the parliamentary elections, Ongia made a bold commitment to the community.
His vision encompasses not just the installation of water sources but also their long-term upkeep and the overall betterment of the community’s living conditions.
Col. Ongia took a moment to express his gratitude towards the Popow team, whose dedication made the drilling of the borehole possible.
Mr. Ajalu Brian, the manager of POPOW (prince of peace orphans and widows) Amolatar branch, echoed Ongia’s sentiments, urging the villagers to keep the water source clean and well-maintained.
The event was marked by heartfelt reactions from mothers in attendance, who couldn’t hide their joy. They praised Col. Ongia for his selfless contributions and voiced their hope for his leadership.
As the day unfolded, it became clear that the new borehole symbolizes much more than just access to water; it embodies a strong communal spirit and hope for a brighter future under the guidance of leaders like Col. Dr. John Francis Ongia.
The event concluded with the community coming together, not only to celebrate the success of having clean water at their disposal but also to strengthen their resolve in supporting true leaders who genuinely work for the welfare of their people.
