Over the weekend, Col. John Francis Ongia, the aspiring political leader for Kioga County, demonstrated his commitment to community welfare by providing a vital resource for residents of Nalubwoyo sub-county.
In response to severe flooding that has rendered the Nalubwoyo road impassable, Ongia presented a boat to assist locals in crossing the treacherous waters.
During the event, Col. Ongia emphasized his dedication to not only addressing immediate needs but also to implementing long-term solutions for the infrastructure challenges facing the community.
“This boat is just the beginning,” he declared, affirming his promise to improve the road conditions in Nalubwoyo.
He expressed hope that these actions would significantly enhance mobility and access for the residents who have been severely affected by the flooding.
Councillor Opio Joseph of Nalubwoyo expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Col. Ongia, acknowledging the many appeals they had made to various politicians in Kioga County without receiving any assistance. “We have reached out to many, but it was Col. Ongia who stood up when we needed it most,” Joseph stated.
His words encapsulated the collective relief felt by the community as they accepted the much-needed aid.
Among the beneficiaries of Ongia’s generosity were the mothers of Nalubwoyo, who have faced significant hardships due to the flooding.
During a vox pop session, several women praised Ongia for his timely support. “He has brought hope to our community,” one mother expressed, highlighting how his contributions extended beyond the boat. Col. Ongia also provided financial support for purchasing gravel to level the borehole area—a crucial step in ensuring safe water access for the community.
Many mothers who received this assistance voiced their intention to vote for him in the upcoming 2026 elections, indicating a strong sense of loyalty and appreciation.
Col. Ongia’s actions reflect a growing trend among aspirants to engage directly with their communities, addressing immediate concerns while laying the groundwork for future improvements.
As the Nalubwoyo community continues to recover from flooding, they look forward to a partnership that promises to enhance their quality of life.
