On the vibrant afternoon of 26 November 2025, the community of Awelo Sub county gathered in Awelo Village, Odyedo Parish, to celebrate a significant milestone: the graduation of 26 participatory innovators trained by Fafad.
The event marked the culmination of hard work and dedication while showcasing the innovative spirit of local farmers committed to integrated farm planning.
The atmosphere was further enriched by the presence of primary school pupils from Anamwany Primary School, who were invited to observe the exhibited products and practices.
The newly graduated farmers took centre stage, proudly displaying their activities and presenting comprehensive integrated family plans that emphasised collaborative farming techniques.
Among the inspiring stories shared, Okucu Alfred and his wife, Betty Okucu, captivated the audience with their success in poultry farming and kitchen gardening.
They also unveiled a demonstration garden featuring maize, highlighting their effective use of local fertilisers and sustainable agricultural methods. Their journey exemplifies the positive impact of applying new knowledge in everyday farming practices.

Geoffery Omeng, the Project Assistant representing the Project Manager of Fafad, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to promoting community peace.
He noted that the training equipped the new farmers with the skills necessary to develop integrated family plans involving all family members—children, fathers, and mothers alike. “This approach not only enhances productivity but also strengthens community ties,” he stated, encouraging the graduates to share their knowledge with fellow farmers.

The event brought together supportive voices from various sectors, including Mr Ocen Erick, the Environment Officer of Amolatar, who praised Fafad for their unwavering dedication to educating farmers in best practices. He emphasised how such initiatives contribute to increased yields and broader community development.
Francis Ojok Abu, the Production Officer of Amolatar, echoed these sentiments, noting that the training offered by Fafad goes beyond mere production. It actively promotes innovative solutions to address pressing challenges related to climate change and environmental management.

In her closing remarks, Assistant Resident District Commissioner Sarah Tyan commended Fafad for its impactful work in Amolatar.
She encouraged the organisation to continue its mission, urging them to keep training various farmers’ groups on optimal production techniques, which are essential in mitigating the effects of climate change.
As the sun set over Awelo Village, the celebration not only honoured the graduates but also reinforced a collective commitment to sustainable farming practices and community resilience.
The event served as a reminder of the power of education, collaboration, and innovation in transforming livelihoods and fostering hope for a prosperous future.
