The communities of Awinyicoa and Obangakura in Nabweyo Parish, Namasale Sub county, Amolatar District, have expressed hope and excitement following the repair of their long-neglected borehole, an intervention credited to Col. Dr John Francis Ongia, who is seeking the Kioga County parliamentary seat in the 2026 elections.

The LC1 Chairperson of Obangakura, Otoo Sam, expressed appreciation for Col. Ongia’s timely support.

“Col. Ongia has been a beacon of hope for our community. His actions reflect the values we hold dear, and we are deeply grateful for his support. This borehole repair not only provides us with clean water but also symbolises the promise of better representation in the future,” he said.

Similarly, Olal David Obongi, the Chairperson of the borehole committee in Obangakura, described the prolonged challenges residents faced before the intervention.

“For years, we appealed to various parliamentary aspirants for help, but it was Col. Ongia who responded. His commitment to addressing our needs is commendable and worthy of our support in the forthcoming election,” he noted.

Koslata Auma, a resident of Awinyicoa, also praised Col. Ongia’s contribution.

“We are rallying behind him,” she said. “His commitment to our community shows that he genuinely cares about our welfare. We pledge our full support for his campaign as the next Member of Parliament for Kioga County.”

Another resident, Ongaro Dan, shared a personal account of the difficulties faced before the borehole was repaired.

“I nearly got into conflict because my wife and I had to walk very long distances to fetch water. Col. Ongia’s support has significantly eased these struggles,” he said.

Adongo Droisila, also from Awinyicoa, recalled the years of hardship the community endured.

“Our borehole broke down five years ago, and we suffered greatly without any assistance. Col. Ongia came to our rescue, and for that, we are extremely grateful,” she said.

As the elections scheduled for January 15, 2026, draw closer, residents of Awinyicoa and Obangakura say they are united in their support for Col. Dr John Francis Ongia, whose actions they say have inspired trust and renewed hope within the communities.

They note that his response to their needs underscores the importance of practical, grassroots leadership.
