Given that agriculture serves as a fundamental pillar of Uganda, a collective of women from the Amolatar Women Mill Group convened yesterday with stakeholders from Sower of Love (SOL) to explore a partnership aimed at empowering the women of Amolatar through the Women Mill Association and expanding their business opportunities.
In a written statement by Daga Denish, who represented Sower Of Love as the Proposal Development and Resource Mobilizer, it was emphasized that their primary mission in the district is to ensure the empowerment, financial support, and independence of women.
He highlighted their commitment to collaborating closely with partners, including district stakeholders and women, to ensure the realization of their shared visions.
The Deputy RDC, Obonyo Magwar, commented on the program, noting that the President had pledged a truck and ten million at the project’s inception; however, due to a lack of political follow-up and community support at the district level, these resources have yet to be received.
He mentioned that they have formulated a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expedite the program’s progress.
The Chief Administrative Officer, Mrs. Rhoda Oroma, who appeared to be welcomed by the women during the meeting, urged Sowers Of Love to conduct a comparative analysis and assist the women with a cost-benefit analysis.
She later envisioned a benchmarking initiative that would enable women to acquire skills from other firms, thereby enhancing their own development.
Apio Juliet, representing the CDO for Amolatar Town Council, encouraged women to apply all the skills they have gained from SOL and to share this knowledge with other women to foster empowerment.
Acana Judith, the chairperson of Women Millers Amolatar, who has served for three years, motivated women to strive for mass production to sustain their families and achieve a fulfilling family life.
Currently, the project is operational in three sub-counties: Acii, Etam, and Nalubwoyo, but it is anticipated that it will expand further.
